At the time if writing this I have only been here once, April 4 -6 for the well organised 2003 Fat Tyre Festival. The Festival made the most of showing you the best bits of the MBR,Red Bull and Karrimor Route in well laid out trails (although it was not supposed to be a race ..... I think it was really)

Although Wales has a lot of natural resources the Forest at Coed Y Brenin has obviously gone through a lot of work, the trails went on for miles and had all been maintained, no sorry most of them had been built burm's had been built up, trails along the sides of mountains had been built up with rocks, it was impressive stuff that the Thetford Forestry Commission should take note of.

The riding a CYB is extremely varied, one moment you can find yourself on sandy fire roads, then leaping of rocks on the Red bull decent, then winding through trees on feeling like Aston Hill ....... and then the road hill climb

How To Get There

Heading North East on the M6 from Birmingham, at junction 10a you should be able to join the M54 heading West bound, head west on the M54 until you get to junction 7 (the end of the M54) at Telford and join the A5 signposted to Shrewsbury. Keep following the A5 until just after Shrewsbury, at the junction with the A458 (signposted to Welshpool) take the A458. Follow the A458 across several round about's and after about 40 miles, at the roundabout at Mallwyd take the third exit and join the A470. Follow the A470 until you go past Dolgellau at which point you should begin to ge sign posts to the Coed Y Brenin Forest Park.

The Route

The Forestry Commission at Coed Y Brenin have taken a lot of time and effort not only building up the trails but marking them out, if you want to do one of the pre marked routes either follow the markers or visit the visitors center or cafe and pick up a map when you are there
